original illustrations (fixed number), unpublished or published after
1st January 2015, in black and white or colour, produced using any
technique, including computer graphics (in case of mixed technique,
please send both original drawings and printouts of the ultimate
artwork).
Artwork previously submitted to the Exhibition may not be re-entered.
The
illustrations must be based on the same theme and must be numbered from
1 to 5 (labels enclosed) in the desired order. The number of
illustrations (5) is mandatory. Submissions of any other number of works
will be rejected.

Dear Illustrator,
We have the pleasure to invite you to participate in the selection of the Illustrators Exhibition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, to be held from Monday 3rd to Thursday 6th April 2017.
Presented in the framework of the leading publishing event in the
year's calendar built around children’s and young people’s traditional
and digital contents today, the Illustrators Exhibition provides a unique opportunity to present and promote your own works to publishers and professionals from all over the world.
Judging will be done by an international panel of experts and the selected works will be showcased in the Illustrators Annual,
published in Italy, the USA, Japan and China and distributed worldwide.
After the Fair, the Exhibition will travel to several Japanese art
museums (in co-operation with JBBY), and to prestigious venues in China
and other countries in order to promote the Exhibition and the
participating illustrators.
Adult illustrators, unpublished or published, are eligible for entry.

Entries close on 7th October 2016 (postmark as proof).
We would like to stress that the participation in the selection of the
Illustrators Exhibition can offer more career opportunities :
1) all selected illustrators under the age of 35 will be entered for the Bologna Children's Book Fair - SM Foundation International Award for Illustration.
This annual award, founded in 2009, aims to promote and support new
talents in the world of illustration and consists in a cheque for 30,000

Finally , this year a project of collaboration have been launched for the initiative " Off the page ... into the fashion world " between
Bologna Children's Book Fair and Pitti Immagine Bimbo, an important
international professional show dedicated to Fashion , in order to
present to the children 's clothing market ten illustrators chosen from
the selected ones and promote marketing and communication synergy
between the two sectors.
